FRIENDS AND FAMILY TEST FEEDBACK NEEDED. PLEASE CLICK ON THE LINK AND TELL US YOUR THOUGHTS
Smear Tests - please book an appointment with the practice nurse in routine surgery time. All of our practices nurses are trained and qualified to carry out these tests.
Diabetic Clinic - held every Thursday afternoon at the Fawdon surgery by a GP and diabetes specialist practice nurse.
Respiratory Clinics - for patients with asthma or COPD are held at both surgeries by the practice nurses. These clinics are by appointment and patients need to be referred by the GP.
Minor Surgery - we are able to carry out minor surgical procedures including the removal of warts, cysts, verrucae, ingrowing toenails, joint injections etc. If you have a problem of this nature, make a normal appointment in the first instance to see either Drs. Summers, Shiells or Ramshaw.
Well Person Clinic - well person sessions are run by the practice nurses and are available to all of our patients. This involves a short health check and advice about a healthier lifestyle, and, where indicated, cholesterol measurement.
Family Planning Clinic - family planning advice is given by all of the GPs' and some of the practice nurses who are family planning trained please ask reception for details. Dr Victoria Williams specialises in family planning.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS. The practice offers a limited service as patients can attend other providers to receive travel vaccinations on a private basis. Please contact reception for further help and advice.
Travelling in Europe
If you are travelling to Europe a very useful booklet has been published with advice and guidance to help you get the most out of your holiday. To visit please click:- http://ec.europa.eu/publications/booklets/eu_glance/86/en.pdf (this is a large document and may take a minute or two to view)
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:
The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
PRIVATE FEES FROM 1ST AUGUST 2016
The charges cover the consultation time and the work involved in preparing for the consultation.
Fees must be paid at the time of the agreed service; a receipt will be issued, as some fees may be recoverable from third parties. For some activities a refundable booking fee is requested. This is returned upon completion of the service.
