Healthy Volunteers Needed for a Medical Research Study
Newcastle University and The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust are looking for healthy volunteers aged over 60 to take part in a research study.
To join, you must never have had the Pneumovax (pneumonia) vaccine.
This study is helping researchers understand how the immune system of older people responds to a vaccine.
What taking part involves
You will be asked to attend three or four visits to the RVI hospital over about one month.
You can join Group 1 or Group 2.
Group 1:
- A blood sample at each visit
- The Pneumovax vaccine at the first visit
Group 2:
- A blood sample at each visit
- A camera test of the lungs at visits 2 and 3
- The Pneumovax vaccine at the second visit
You will receive a payment to thank you for your time and to cover any inconvenience.
