Book a Cervical Screening Appointment

Booking your cervical screening is simple โ€“ and it could save your life.

Hereโ€™s how to do it:

โœ… Step 1: Check if youโ€™re due

If youโ€™re aged 25 to 64 and have a cervix, youโ€™ll usually be invited for cervical screening every 3 to 5 years.

Not sure if youโ€™re due? You can:

๐Ÿ“ž Step 2: Contact your GP practice

You can book your cervical screening by:

  • Calling us on 0191 285 1763.
  • Asking in personย at reception. We are open 8:00 am to 6:30 pm.

Let the team know itโ€™s for cervical screening โ€“ theyโ€™ll guide you through it.

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ Step 3: Let us know if you have any questions or concerns

It’s absolutely fine to feel nervous, unsure, or have questions. You can:

  • Ask to speak to a nurse before your appointment. You might be able to come for a pre-appointment visit.
  • Request extra time if youโ€™re anxious or need support
  • Talk to someone in private โ€“ weโ€™re here to listen
  • Evening or weekend appointments might be possible through our Primary Care Network team

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ We can offer adjustments to help

Everyoneโ€™s needs are different. Let us know if youโ€™d like:

  • female nurse (screening is usually done by a trained female nurse)
  • longer appointment or quiet time of day
  • Support with access or communication
  • Someone to talk you through the process beforehand
  • A friend or family member to come with you

Weโ€™ll do everything we can to make you feel comfortable and in control.

๐Ÿ”’ Your privacy matters

Cervical screening is done in a private room, with dignity and care. You can:

  • Ask questions at any time
  • Bring someone with you, if it helps
  • Stop or pause the test whenever you need to
