Skills for People – May Group Dates
Skills for People is a registered charity working with disabled people, their families and people with autism since 1983.
They support people across the North East to have the same chances, choices and rights as everyone else. Inclusion and fairness allow people to live good, healthy and meaningful lives.
Below we have highlighted some of their upcoming groups and activities and dates for the month of May.

May Group Dates
Skills for People run various different groups for people with a learning disability and autistic people. Most groups are in person, with people able to join via Zoom for others.

Meet and Connect | Thursday 4th May | 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm | Visit to the Baltic. Meet at the entrance to the Baltic at 1.00 pm. |
End of Day Wind Down on Zoom | Thursday 4th May | 4.00 pm to 5.00 pm | A chance for you to relax from the comfort of your own home. We will listen to guided relaxations, relaxing music, and do some gentle stretches. |
Women’s Zone | Friday 5th May | 10.30 am to 12.00 pm | We will be learning about Cervical screening with the Be Cancer Aware team. Come along for a relaxed learning session |
Being Well Walk | Tuesday 9th May | 10.30 am-12.00 pm | Join us for a social walk exploring Northumberland Park, Tynemouth. For meeting arrangements, speak to Sara or Erin, or email [email protected]. |
Craft and Chat | Tuesday 9th May | 1.30 pm-3.00 pm New Time! | Come along and get creative in a friendly group. No need to book, just turn up and enjoy. |
Newcastle Advisory Group | Wednesday 10th May | 10.00 am-11.30 am | Meet with us to have your say about issues affecting you in Newcastle. |
Save the Planet group | Wednesday 10th May | 10.00 am-12.30 pm | Join us to be in nature and learn outdoor and gardening skills. Today we will be waking with Ouseburn Trust to look for a forest school site in the Ouseburn. We meet at Skills for People |

Rights Round Table | Thursday 11th May | 2.00 pm-3.00 pm | The Twisting Ducks will be coming to tell us about what they do. They are a drama and disabilities rights group. |
Technology Session – Top Tips to using your devices | Thursday 11th May | 2.30 pm – 4.00 pm | Come to this session to learn top tips on using your phone, laptop or tablet. |

Mix It Up: a social and shared interests group. | Tuesday 16th May | 2.30 pm-4.30 pm | New people always welcome! Visit the Hancock Museum for an interactive ‘Monsters and Mortals Mythical Quest’ with the group. Advanced booking is needed so please contact Becky, Erin or Sara. |
Geordie Voices | Wednesday 17th May | 12.30 pm-1.30 pm | We will be talking about Hate Crime. What it is and what we can do about it |

Citizen’s Advice Bureau Energy drop-in | Thursday 18th May | 10.30 am-2.30 pm | A drop-in session to chat one to one with a specialist about benefits, energy bills, energy support grants, food bank vouchers and more. |

Meet and Connect | Thursday 18th May | 1.00 pm-3.00 pm Longer session | Learn some first aid and life saving techniques at this workshop with the North East Ambulance Service. |
Women’s Zone | Friday 19th May | 10.30 am-11.30 am | Meet up at Tyneside Bar and Café. A chance to catch up face to face. Please bring some money for a drink. |
Men of the North | Monday 22nd May | 1.00 pm-3.00 pm | A safe space for men to chat about men’s issues. New people always welcome. |
Craft and Chat | Tuesday 23rd May | 1.30 pm-3.00 pm New Time | Bring something you are already working on or start up something new. Wool, pens, paper and paint provided. |
