Enhanced Access
Enhanced Access is a service introduced by the NHS in October 2022.
It requires GP practices to provide additional appointments to patients during evenings and weekends.
This is being delivered at PCN-level, meaning neighbouring GP practices have shared use of the service (based on 60 minutes of appointments per 1,000 patients registered at each practice).
All practices in North Gosforth have access to appointments that will be hosted at 200 Osborne Road at 200 Osborne Road, Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE2 3LD.
Appointments will run from 6.30 pm to 8 pm, Monday to Friday, and 9 am to 5 pm on Saturdays.
Depending on your specific needs and the availability of services and clinicians, your practice may offer you an evening or weekend appointment at our network hub.
Each Enhanced Access session will be staffed by a GP, a Health Care Assistant, a Phlebotomist and a Receptionist.
Because this is a shared resource, each practice has a fair share of appointments with each clinician. For that reason, appointments will not be able for patients to book themselves directly.
Please note access to our network hub is by appointment only.
It is not a walk-in service, and the venue is not open for general practice enquiries. All requests still need to be made to practices during their normal opening hours.
